How did you get started in Crown Vic racing?

I got started just last season when William Avila invited me out to run one of his Blue Crew Vics at Salina Highbanks. That weekend, he put me in his personal #7 car and ran his secondary, the #8. I beat him, and he invited me out to Thunderbird in Muskogee the next weekend. Somehow, I won that one too. He started building me a car (the #81) and the rest is history!

Why did you choose Crown Vic racing?

I have always wanted to race dirt oval but never quite knew how to get into it. Right out of the gate I was very impressed with the way these things drive. Sure they don't have a ton of power, but the small street tires create a unique challenge and the fact that all of the cars are very much equal to one another makes for some amazing battles out there!

Racing experience and biggest highlight

I've been road racing motorcycles for about 10 years and prior to that I did a lot of SCCA autocross events taking a few local championships along the way. The biggest highlight of my racing career was probably getting on the podium at Daytona on a bone-stock Yamaha R6 motorcycle. In car racing, I would have to say last year's .38 Special at Arrowhead will be an unforgettable race for me. I took the pole, but spun out within the first two laps and went to tailback. I ended up coming up from 25th place to take the lead (from William!) with a few laps left, but with two to go my car overheated and dropped a cylinder! I was really stoked for William to take that win, and I couldn't have been prouder of my drive to get back to the front. It was a win-win all around.

Toughest track and why

What's my limited experience, it's hard to say what the toughest track is for me. What I love about dirt track racing is that the track evolves not just from night to night, or heat to feature... But maybe from lap to lap! I love the challenge of not just racing my fellow drivers, but also the track surface.

People who helped your racing journey

Without question, William Avila and his wife Amanda. Without them, I wouldn't even be on the track. The whole Blue Crew team has been an incredible part of this experience: Chris Phipps and his family, the Pryor family, Ricky Allen and Ricky Jr., Jess Thrash, Zack Medford, Cody Gayer and many others I'll probably be mad at myself for leaving off later! I love y'all!!

Fun fact fans might not know

Fun facts? Well, I think a lot of people will think my car number 81 is because 1981 is my birth year... But it's actually because 81 Speedway in Wichita Kansas is where I fell in love with dirt track racing at a very young age, going to watch my grandfather race. Another fun fact is that I am co-founder of BisonTrack.com, one of the biggest custom motorcycle racing gear companies in the world!

Goals for the season

My goals for the season are to have fun above all but possibly try and win a championship at Salina! If nothing else, I want to try and give William a run for his money!
